Thank you for visiting the Children's House of Miss Tammie website.  We are one of the few authentic Montessori facilities in the Hyde Park area of Chicago.  We are affiliated with the American Montessori Society.  We are also registered with the Illinois State Board of Education, which allows us to enroll children from preschool age to 12th grade.

 

We are a non-denominational school which aims to provide the finest education program based on the Montessori philosophy and methods for educating children.   

 Our Philosophy

 

The Children's House of Miss Tammie Montessori School was established in August 2006 by Tammie Jean Crutcher. Miss Tammie believes that the Montessori method of education provides the most effective and fulfilling way to guide a child through his/her early school years.  This is a critical period for learning and setting patterns which will last a lifetime. Our goals are 1) to provide a Montessori enrichment program, and 2) to provide a " non‑institutional" environment for children requiring full or part‑time education.

Our class of about sixteen children is taught by a certified Montessori teacher who is also  certified in American Sign Language as well as the development of Special Needs children.
